Skirts at the Gym?
Let's Stop Skirting Around the Issue
Stella McCartney Skirt
We’ve been conditioned to believe that skirts have been relegated to the workplace, Girl Scout meetings, and to the tennis courts. But certainly not on the treadmill, in spin class, or the weight room. Times have changed. Get ready to revolutionize your wardrobe in the gym because- this just in- IT’S OKAY TO WORKOUT IN A SKIRT!

It’s minute nine on the treadmill. That old familiar burn is starting to build. Only this burn has less to do with muscle building and more to do with chafing. Admit it. It’s happened to the best of us. You’ve just bee-lined to the locker room and pulled up the leg of your shorts to reveal the red, raw telltale chafe markings. This is simply not the case with a skirt. Running skirts are not only chafe resistant, but my research indicates that many are made with either drawstring or elastic waistbands. Brilliant. What could be sweeter than putting those muffin-top leggings away? (Stay tuned for the Leggings issue brought to you by this Fitness Fashionista.)

We’ve all felt less than feminine at the gym. Sweat mixed with mesh shorts mixed with that “50th Disneyland Anniversary” t-shirt is sure to leave you feeling less like a gym bunny and more like a gym blob. Throwing a skirt on with your Nike’s is bound to add a little bounce to your step and a boost to your ego. Become an insta-female effortlessly! If this isn’t enough to get your heart rate up, check out the new tennis skirt by Stella McCartney; where sporty and spicy meet amiably in the middle to create what can only be described as fit-tastic.

I know what you’re thinking. You’re still a little skeptical; uncertain. What if the skirt flounces? Reveals your derriere? With built-in boy shorts, these running skirts will protect your goodies so you can set the treadmill to sprint and run wild.

It’s fashionable, extremely comfortable, and surprisingly practical. So take the plunge, the stairs, or the bike. Just as long as you do it in a skirt. It’s time to put fashion into fitness.
